The production turnaround – Turning Data into Sustainability

On July 1st, the first “GPMC Kaminabend” with Prof. Dr. Günther Schuh took place. GPMC members and other top executives from selected manufacturing companies joined our discussion on the necessity, possibilities, and risks of bringing sustainability into production.

Under the motto “The production turnaround – Turning Data into Sustainability”, the necessities and possibilities of understanding and using the transformation towards more sustainability as an opportunity were intensively discussed. It was immediately clear to all participants that this requires innovations in many areas, e.g. product, production, and business model. In this respect, manufacturing companies and the research community should cooperate even more closely, to foster meaningful knowledge exchange and to actively shape the turnaround in production together.

The thematic highlights included:

  • Contribution of production technology to sustainability
  • A holistic view of sustainability: FESG
  • The role of the Internet of Production

The GPMC – at the interface between business and research

The GPMC is the central competence partner for all issues pertaining to production management. Powerful networks of science and industry generate innovative solutions for the challenges faced by manufacturing companies today and in the future. As a unique competence network of renowned companies and research institutes, the GPMC actively promotes open exchange on important issues. A constructive discussion culture is cultivated and transparency created. The network is an excellent basis for cooperation and a starting point for specific problem solutions in bilateral research and consulting projects. Together with our member companies, we develop, test, and implement solutions for the production management of tomorrow. You can find out more about membership within the GPMC here.

We would like to thank everybody involved as well as all participants of the discussion round, which made this first GPMC Kaminabend a success!
