1. November 2020
The second virtual PSC meeting took place on October 26th and 27th with the theme “Target picture for a Production System 4.0 – design, planning, implementation“.

Together with Miele, Hilti, Henkel, e.GO, Infineon, Mast-Jägermeister and the WZL of RWTH Aachen, we experienced open and inspiring discussions over the course of two afternoons. The guiding theme of the first day was “Organizing and leadership in production systems“. We were particularly glad to enrich our discussions with a presentation by Infineon Technologies AG, that provided us with an exciting insight into the Regensburg plant. The second day took place under the theme “Introduction and communication of a production system“. This time, Mast-Jägermeister SE gave a presentation on their most recent experience in the conception, introduction and communication of a new production system, which not only made specific challenges visible but also revealed fascinating solutions. The discussions were accompanied by the use of an online workshop platform which has proven to be very successful.

We will continue to expand this form of digital collaboration in the future and enable a fruitful exchange even in times of corona-related restrictions.

If you are interested in the PSC, let’s talk and develop the Production System 4.0 of the future together!

The Production Systems Community (PSC)

Folie6_Communities_EN-scaled-1-1024x440 Production Systems Community Meeting
Members of the Production Systems Community (PSC) rely on knowledge exchange for the design and implementation of production systems in the context of Industry 4.0. The focus of the activities is on company visits in order to experience and discuss the complexity of production systems in a tangible way. The exchange is further enriched by the scientific findings of the WZL at RWTH Aachen University.

The visits and discussions are organized and moderated by employees of the PSC member companies. Participants also have an opportunity to get to know each other at evening events, which helps develop strong ties built on trust. This format has proved effective since the founding of the PSC and specifically in a year-long industrial joint project, the consortial benchmarking “Production Systems 4.0”.

With the consortium benchmarking “Production Systems 4.0”, the WZL of RWTH Aachen University ties in with a series of benchmarking projects relating to production systems. Together with an industry consortium, we have identified concepts, methods and procedures from Successful-Practice-Companies and discerned knowledge on how production systems can promote process innovations and increase agility in the future.
